RoboMower RL1000 Reviews

Friendly Robotics lawn mowers have quite a few customer reviews for the robotic lawn mower market. The majority of people gave the RoboMower RL1000 positive reviews. They found the mower to cut well, with one reviewer describing the quality of cut as excellent. They also praised the mower for being able to navigate a complicated yard. Many of the reviews were given after over a year of use, which speaks to the longevity of the product. One reviewer said they would buy this robot over and over again even if it lasted only 2-3 years. The RoboMower RL1000 costs less than he would pay for a mowing service and his lawn looks better than it would with a service as he can set the robot to mow every day if he wishes. The convenience of not having to mow himself is worth the price. Many reviewers felt the same way.

Some RoboMower RL1000 owners say they wish they had chosen a LawnBott. Interestingly, they were still satisfied with their RoboMower, but liked the smaller size, and additional features of the LawnBott and the fact that LawnBotts are quieter. However, considering the price difference, they felt the RoboMower was good value for its price. A few reviewers mentioned that the kit does not come with enough perimeter wire but that any 14 or 16g heavy wire available from home improvement stores can be used. RoboMowers use lead acid batteries which may be an issue for those who are environmentally oriented. Interested customers should also note that the slope capability is lower than for other mowers.

Overall, reviews were positive in that the RoboMower RL1000 is good value for its price tag, and has the same longevity as the current market standard. We can therefore give this robot our strong recommendation.

LawnBott Spyder Robotic Lawn Mower LB1200

The LawnBott Spyder LB1200 is designed for simplicity. It is unique among robotic mowers in that it does not require a perimeter wire to keep it in your yard. Instead, it has 12 moisture sensors which can detect live grass. When the Spyder encounters dry areas such as cement or dead grass, it stops and goes in a new direction. This eliminates the intial set up time of laying wire required for other makes and models.  There are no interactive menus, just 2 buttons, power and start/stop. The LawnBott Spyder LB1200 is ready to go out of the box. As with other LawnBott models, the Spyder features blade modulation, which monitors the amount of resistance against the blade, transferring power when it is needed. This saves battery life. Other software features include wheel sensors to prevent it from getting stuck, and safety features such as tilt sensors and handle sensors which stop the motor when touched. The LawnBott Spyder 1200‘s small size and pattern of cutting make it ideal for small yards and narrow areas such as between hedges.

LawnBott Spyder Robotic Lawn Mower LB1200 Reviews

We found a number of editorial reviews and field tests but no independent customer reviews. Field tests showed that the Spyder performed up to and beyond manufacturers specifications. The sensors worked well and, as other LawnBotts, the Spyder produced a beautiful cut. The mowing pattern of the LawnBott LB1200 Spyder is different than the other LawnBotts. Though it’s still random in nature, it turns several inches after it has reversed. The only disadvantage of the Spyder’s mowing pattern is that it is not effective for larger lawns, which of course the Spyder is not designed for. It is very quiet, which is a feature of all LawnBotts when compared to other makes.

Reviewers noted that, without a barrier, the LawnBott Spyder LB1200 will not know the difference between your lawn and your neighbor’s. If you choose this mower you will need a barrier such as bricks or stone borders, or a row of flowers surrounded in mulch in between yours and your neighbor’s lawn. . Unlike other LawnBott models, the Spyder is not fully automated so needs to be manually started and stopped, and put away to be charged in between uses. Other LawnBott models simply put themselves back to dock when they are finished. This may purely be a matter of preference but does mean that the homeowner may need to be home to put the Spyder away.

RoboMower RL850 Reviews

The RoboMower RL850 has the most reviews for any robotic lawn mower available. The reviews are mostly positive with 85% of owners giving the model the thumbs up. Most reviewers thought the BoboMower RL850 was very good value for the money. They compared what they would spend on a lawn service and found that even when factoring in the initial cost of the mower and its associated maintenance costs they still came out ahead. Many reviewers were enthusiastic about the savings and one reviewer noted he felt he saved about $2000.00 over 2 years. They also pointed out that their lawns looked better than if they’d hired a lawn service company as the RoboMower can cut several times a week, keeping their lawn beautifully maintained. The convenience of not having to mow themselves, gain of free time, avoidance of noise, gas fumes, heat, insects and allergies encountered when mowing were worth the cost alone. All reviewers were pleased with the cut and mulching feature, and most were impressed with how the robot handled the irregularities of their lawns. Another interesting note was from a reviewer who didn’t like to “coddle“ his lawn. He found that just setting the RoboMower at the right cutting height, the frequent mowing and mulching action helped his grass grow and crowded out the weeds over time.

We were also encouraged by the number of satisfied customer who posted positive reviews after 2 plus years.

Several reviews mention that, similar to other RoboMower packages, there is generally not enough wire or stakes included in the box to properly set up the perimeter wire. They note that you can inexpensively purchase more wire and tent pegs at home improvement stores. Of the five negative reviews, three concerned a battery charging issue that they had difficulty resolving. We noted this issue mentioned in one of the positive reviews, but in that case the issue had been quickly resolved and they felt the technical support was prompt and helpful. Of the unhappy reviewers, the issue had not been easily resolved and they felt technical support was lacking. Several people noted that the model doesn’t handle wet ground well.

Unlike other RoboMower models, the RL850 does not include a rain sensor. We aren’t sure that is a negative consideration as many reviewers happily spoke of their mower cutting in the rain. Interested customers should note that this mower is not fully automatic so will need to be driven to and from where you decide to store and charge it. This means owners may need to be home to monitor mowing. If you prefer fully automated mowing and charging we recommend you consider the RoboMower RL1000 or a LawnBott model.

In general, people said they spent about $250.00 – $300.00 per year in maintenance costs for the RoboMower RL850. This is similar to what we have found in our review of all robotic lawn mowers. Considering the number of positive reviews, we do not have any hesitation recommending this robot to owners of small to medium sized lawns.

RoboMower RM400 Reviews

We found a handful of reviews for the RoboMower RM400. In general, people seemed to be happy with its performance but found that mowing took a very long time. Although the RoboMower RM400 is marketed for those with medium sized lawns, it may be best suited to those who have small lawns. One reviewer who has a moderate sized lawns seemed to be happy once the mower had finished its initial cutting. He felt the mower was able to keep on top of his mowing needs and keep his lawn looking good all season.

LawnBott Robotic Lawn Mower LB3250

Inside the attractive red casing of the LawnBott LB3250 is a powerful robotic lawn mower for its size. It features Smart Spiral mode which activates when the LawnBott LB3250 detects a high patch of grass. This allows the mower to focus on that particular area which helps assure an evenly cut lawn. It also features adaptive programming which learns the growth pattern of your lawn over time. It then automatically modifies its mowing schedule to the actual mowing needs of your lawn. This feature saves battery life, lengthens the life of the electric motor, and contributes to a healthier looking lawn. Of course the LawnBott LB 3250 is programmable to your own preferred schedule. Like its big brother the LB3500, the LB3250 is fully automatic, and cuts in a random pattern. It comes with an alarm, safety tilt sensor and a thin, razor sharp blade which results in better cut quality than push or riding mowers.  The LB3250 also comes with a remote control. LawnBott LB3250 Reviews

After extensive searching we found many editorial reviews but only a handful of independent consumer reviews. We did find one independent field test of the LawnBott LB3250

In field testing, the LawnBott LB3250 outperformed all manufacturer’s specifications. It handled very long grass exceptionally well. It mulched small twigs and branches with ease and its thin, flexible blade allowed it to escape damage when hitting rocks. Reports note the LB3250 is quiet especially when compared to the Robomower, mainly because of its direct motor to wheel method of action. Despite a smaller motor it is still powerful enough to handle steep slopes. Adding the spiked wheels only improved its ability to handle hills.  It has 4 programmable zones like the LB3500 but these zones are not as sophisticated as the LB3500. It is small and lightweight which helps it get into narrow and low height areas.

We found a few customers who had significant problems with battery charging when the firmware was upgraded. This happened on several occasions. Customers reported that technical support did resolve the problem but it did take a little time and investigation by the owners. One reviewer found that it seemed he was often replacing parts which became an issue after the warranty had expired. Another customer pointed out that the warranty was new again on each replaced part. The remote is not designed to drive the mower like a remote controlled car and has a range of only 20 feet.

On the positive side we found a few owners who have had the LB3250 for 3 seasons and they are still running well. One reviewer reported his LB3250 would mow for up to 8 hours with the 2 batteries installed.

Overall, there are few independent reviews of the LawnBott LB3250 and those reviews are mixed. However, LawnBott has a long history of quality products. If you avoid or resolve the firmware issue, it seems the LB3250 is as reliable as any of the other models, and are well loved by their owners. As there are more reviews for the LB3500 if you have a large lawn you may wish to consider upgrading to the LB3500.

LawnBott LB3500 Reviews

In searching, we found a good number of independent customer reviews of the LawnBott LB3500. The LawnBott LB3500 is pricey compared to some other robotic lawn mowers available. Its top of the line price tag reflects a powerful machine capable of cutting large lawns with ease. People who bought the LawnBott LB 3500 did not find that the price was excessive given its capabilities. We noted that people who chose the LawnBott LB3500 were also considering a tractor or riding style mower because of the size of their yards. They ultimately chose the LawnBott LB3500 to save time, energy, money and not least of all, to eliminate the noise pollution. In addition, owners of earlier LawnBott models, tend to like the line so much that they replace their outdated mowers with newer LawnBott models. These customers reported being very happy with their upgrade to the LawnBott LB LB3500.

On the positive side, consumers liked the random mowing pattern as this helps promote grass health and a good-looking lawn. It is reported to have better stability on hills than the LawnBott Evolution and better traction than Robomower RL1000.  One reviewer stated they particularly liked the digital compass feature which prevents slippage on slopes and allows grass to be cut perfectly even on hills. They also appreciated the enhanced safety features, such as the blade stopping when the robot was lifted or the back handle was touched. LawnBotts are quiet and the LB3500 is designed to mow bigger lawns. Consumers mentioned numerous times that the battery life outperformed the manufacturer’s specifications. They were very happy with the ability of the LawnBott LB3500 to maintain a beautiful, even lawn.

As with the case of many other makes of robotic lawn mowers, a few consumers report that the LawnBotts work well for the first couple of years but then will fail for various reasons. From the reviews available, it doesn’t appear the LawnBott LB3500 fails any more often or sooner than any of the other makes currently available.

iRobot 500 Series Roomba Robot Vacuum Cleaner

The iRobot 500 Series Roomba Robot Vacuum Cleaner has come a long way in the 500 series. Over the 400 and previous series you’ll see improvements in navigation, coverage, pickup, as well as filtration. Operation is easy as well, with one click of the “clean” button the Roomba will immediately start cleaning the floor its on, automatically adjusting for wood, tile, carpet, and many other types of flooring.

The dual-speed counter rotating brushes will pick up anything from cat and dog hair to mud and dirt, while the anti-tangle+auto reverse technology will ensure the unit keeps on going through the tough spots.

The size of this unit allows it to get most anywhere inside the home, and it has a dirt detecting sensor that allows it to automatically spend the most time where needed. Also included in this version is the Virtual wall system, which allows you to set up small RFID emitters ( included ) near the doors to rooms you would like the Roomba to avoid, cliff sensors that will keep the unit from falling over stairs or drops, and a built in return to home function that allows it to go back to its base and charge itself when needed.

iRobot 500 Series Roomba Robot Vacuum Cleaner Reviews:

The iRobot 500 Series Roomba has received overall positive reviews from those who have had experience with the product. Most Roomba owners are impressed by the features offered and just how far it has come from the previous generations. Users coming from the 400 series noted how much better the 500 series was at dealing with tricky situations such as rug fringe.

One reviewer had issues with the new lighthouse system, saying that because it emits its RFID beam in a fan shape around it, that particular area is never reached by the Roomba, leaving a fan shaped area uncleaned in front of the lighthouse. Even with this however the reviewer still recommends the product as many others do, and makes sure to mention just how much time it saves him.

Another reviewer wrote to say that the improved vacuums in this series work wonders when it comes to picking up cat hair, but it can have a few problems getting on and off carpets. The reviewer speculates that this is caused by the slightly lower hanging design in the 500 series versus the 400 series he previously owned.

Two things were reverberated across almost all of the reviews however, the Roombas built in ability to go back to the charging station, and the ability to schedule the unit to clean certain rooms at certain times. Many reviewers noted that they set their devices to clean in the early morning hours ( 2-5am ), and it was quiet enough to not wake them.

The Roomba 500 series still has a few quirks but its advanced detection systems, great form factor, and easy maintenance make the iRobot 500 Series Roomba Robot Vacuum Cleaner a solid buy for anyone looking to do less vacuuming themselves.

iRobot Scooba Floor Washing Robotic Hard Surface Vacuum Cleaner Reviews

The reviews online for the iRobot Scooba Robotic Vacuum Cleaner are a mixed bag, people love it while it’s working, but have some serious qualms with the shelf life of the unit. As with other iRobot units, many pet owners have embraced the Scooba, saying it works wonders but still needs some supervision.

The largest problem by far mentioned with the iRobot Scooba Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is plain old unit failure after a period of time. There are many reviews to be found online where a user will shower the device with praise in the first paragraph, but then give it one star and go on to rant and rave about how theirs was dead within a year and their general dissatisfaction with iRobot customer support. However this does seem to vary on the extremes, some people having complete breakdowns and some going strong with no problems, so the folks with complete unit failures may very well be just a vocal minority.

One user noted that the Scooba can’t be left alone in as large of rooms as the Roomba can. This is due to the Scooba going over certain spots several times to make sure all dirt has been scrubbed away, and the four part cycle of prep, wash, scrub and dry that the unit boasts. This repetition combined with the Scooba’s 45 minute cycle time has created an annoyance for some users that would like to use it in larger homes or industrial settings. There isn’t enough time for it to be as thorough as it would like and it calls it quits with a portion of the room left uncleaned.

As with it’s cousin the Roomba, the Scooba is also round in design, making cleaning corners difficult, as many reviewers brought up. It can cover 95% of a room but you’ll often have to do a quick walk through yourself to hit those last missed spots. Many users noted this but also mentioned how much time the device saved them anyway, they prefer working in tandem with the Scooba and handling the last 5% to doing 100% themselves.

Basically the reviews all point to this; if you have a large kitchen area or other hardwood/tile areas in your home, the iRobot Scooba Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is a good bet. It may leave a small amount of work up to human intervention, but the time you’ll have to invest to keep everything shining like new will dramatically decrease.

It uses the same prep, wash, scrub, squeegee cleaning system as previous Scooba models and can clean tile, linoleum and hardwood floors. iRobot Scooba 380 Reviews

The reviews for the Scooba 380 are an interesting mix. Many people have rated it highly ( 4-5 stars ) but went on to list four or more major complaints in a long review. These reviewers enjoyed the product for what it did, enough to rate it highly, but had serious concerns about the flaws they experienced.

Those that have the most issues with the iRobot Scooba 380 are those coming from owning a Roomba previously. The complaints in this vein are numerous and mostly well founded. Some are smaller, like the faulty charging station that ships with every unit so one must use a cord to charge it, and the plug for said cord being very hard to orient into the socket on the side of the device. But there are some larger issues mixed in as well, like sensors not working right and the unit constantly getting stuck, and the large amount of water left on the floor after a cleaning cycle. The most common complaint from previous Roomba owners however is that the build quality seems much worse than the 500 series Roomba, the sensors don’t engage well, the device has sharp and poorly fitted corners, and it just looks worse.

Despite the all of the negative talk however there are quite a few who still praise the Scooba for what it does well. It may leave water on the floor and not give it a complete “just mopped” shine, but it cleans very well, taking out old and stubborn stains easily. It’s very easy to use it with cheap cleaning fluid ( vinegar and water ), so keeping it going is less costly.

Some reviewers even point out that many issues can be solved with simple work arounds, and that the majority of claims are unfounded. If your device is leaving too much water on the floor for example, just pull the squeegey completely straight. Some as plain as replacing the battery when the unit is dying before a cleaning cycle is complete, can eliminate many of the common issues other users mention.

Overall the Scooba 380 is a worthwhile product for those that absolutely despise mopping floors, but still has several annoying kinks. However with a few very simple workarounds it can be a useful addition to your household cleaning arsenal.

If Neato XV-11 runs low on power it is smart enough to go back to its charging base, recharges itself and then returns to work from where it left off.

The powerful vacuum motor inside the Neato XV-11 makes it easy to pick up any tiny speck, any pet hair. Because of its low profile, XV-11 is capable to clean under the furniture, under the bed and sofas. Neato XV-11 cleans every type of floor: carpet, rugs or hardwood.

We found that have the best prices on all robot vacuum cleaners, including the Neato XV-11 Robot Vacuum Cleaner.

Reviews of the Neato XV-11 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

According to customers reviews the Neato XV-11 All Floor Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, has more pros than cons.

The users were very satisfied with the product. People were amazed by the intelligent laser mapping  used to clean the room. Customers commented about the powerful vacuum motor that sucked anything from deep in the carpet.

In particular, several users who are also pet owners were very pleased with the Neato’s performance, commenting that it picks up an embarrassing amount of pet hair that isn’t visible to the human eye.

People who used Neato XV-11 loved how they could schedule it and leave home to come back to a cleaner place. They also love the auto docking function.

Automatically finds its dock to recharge if it can’t finish in one charge, then picks up where it left off.

A number of owners commented that the excellent performance (Neato was regarded as a better performer that the Roombas) required the Neato to recharge itself to be able to clean large areas. However, the Neato returns itself to its recharging base, then starts again where it previous finished.

Most of the bad reviews were about the customer service from Neato, rather than from people who had technical problems with their Neato XV-11. Also, some users, commented about the fact that XV-11 does bump into some obstacles and it does not clean so well around corners.

I really like this robotic vacuum. It cleans a ridiculous amount of pet hair and dust from my carpet!

Generally, though, the Neato XV-11 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is what one happy reviewer called “automation at your service“.

Don’t just take my word for it!
